Job Opportunity: Senior Energy Advisor/Sector Expert in Renewable Energy

Focus and Responsibilities

Denmark and Japan cooperate on a joint strategic work programme working towards a comprehensive sustainable and green future. The partnership focuses on government cooperation and economic growth including a partnership on energy policy.

Working under the Danish Energy Agency’s Energy Governance Partnership Programme for offshore wind energy, the Senior Energy Advisor will be an integral part of the Economic Diplomacy set-up, supporting the progress on the energy partnership between Denmark and Japan and Green Diplomacy.

Specifically, the Senior Energy Advisor will support bilateral projects between Japan and Denmark, public diplomacy, relationship building and activities with authorities, academic, institutional and company partners on energy related topics. Close cooperation with Trade Council that works to create access for Danish businesses and resolve political and technical barriers is expected, especially within the field of wind energy, green hydrogen and sector integration.

The Royal Danish Embassy in Japan seeks an action-oriented advisor who is passionate about supporting Danish-Japanese strategic cooperation and program deliverables in the fields of energy and sustainability.

Job Opportunity: Senior Commercial Officer/Sector Expert in Energy

Location: Royal Danish Embassy, Tokyo

Deadline to Apply: 15th of May, 2025

The Trade Council in Japan is seeking an experienced, outgoing, and dynamic Senior Commercial Officer/Sector Expert to assist Danish businesses in exploring energy and green transition (GX) opportunities in Japan. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Denmark’s leadership in renewable energy and green technology while fostering collaboration between Danish companies and Japanese stakeholders. Furthermore, the candidate will work closely with colleagues at the embassy involved in the Government-to-Government programme on energy, to ensure alignment between commercial activities and broader bilateral energy cooperation.
