Reframing Japan – Beyond Perception, a practical decision guide on doing business in Japan, has published its first chapter - and the DCCJ is pleased to share it with our members.

The guide is produced by Twenty Eighty, a consultancy bridging Danish and Japanese business. Written by founder Ole Takai and co-writer and researcher Hinako Iwata - and built on insights from DCCJ members who contributed their on-the-ground experience.
It is aimed at decision-makers in mid-to-large Danish and Scandinavian companies exploring Japan for commercial expansion, strategic partnerships, or R&D collaboration.
The first chapter offers a high-level introduction to Japan as a market, covering the structural factors that shape business behaviour and long-term decision-making. It draws on interviews with practitioners working across both countries, including perspectives from the Royal Danish Embassy's Trade Council in Tokyo.
The guide is a living document. The next chapter, focused on design as a shared language between Denmark and Japan, is already in development, followed by a supplement on the Japanese media landscape.
The full first chapter is available to download at https://twenty-eighty.jp/japan-beyond-perception/
If your company would be interested in contributing to future chapters - as an interview subject or in another capacity - Twenty Eighty welcomes that conversation.
