Volunteers for the Danish Pavilion during the Tokyo Olympics 2020

During the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020, a Danish Pavilion, located in Hibiya Park, will be open for the world press, business-to-business contacts and the many visitors to the Olympic Games, all with the aim of presenting the very best Denmark has to offer. The Pavilion will serve as an experience platform and showcase for the Danish quality of life. This includes Danish strongpoints in the areas of design, green solutions, healthcare, welfare, food and smart cities.

VisitDenmark is currently looking for volunteers to work as Danish Ambassadors in the pavilion and interact with the many visitors. Are you interested in the opportunity to be part of a unique Denmark promotional project, gain event experience, have the desire and ability to talk to people from all over the world about Denmark, and at the same time be flexible and ready to solve various tasks? Then the Danish Pavilion in Hibiya Park might just be the place you are looking for!

VisitDenmark offers the following to the volunteers:

  • The opportunity to be part of a unique Denmark promotional project and to gain event experience

  • Food and beverage while on duty

  • Insurance coverage while on duty

  • Uniform while on duty

  • Refund of public transport from your residence to Hibiya Park (valid tickets must be submitted on the last day of duty, up to 2000 JPY per round trip)

  • Lots of fun with the dedicated Denmark team

  • Incentive


The following information disclose the qualifications VisitDenmark is looking for in their volunteers, as well as contact information and other relevant details regarding the application and recruitment process.

Qualifications:

  • You are living in or close to Tokyo and/or have a place to stay during the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020

  • You speak Japanese and English (and perhaps also some Danish)

  • As a minimum, you must be able to work 5 days (approx. 8 hours pr. day) spanning over the entire opening period (24.07.20 – 09.08.20 and 25.08.20 – 06.09.20)

  • You have an interest in Denmark and some knowledge about our country and have preferably visited and/or lived in Denmark

  • You are flexible and ready to solve various tasks in the pavilion e.g. guiding and hosting visitors in the exhibition, welcoming visitors to the pavilion etc.

  • You want to tell the many good stories about our country and promote Denmark to the rest of the world

  • You want to represent Denmark and become a Danish Ambassador

  • You can handle stressful and hectic situations

  • You are outgoing and have a flair for personal contact

  • It is a plus if you are either a Danish resident of Tokyo, or a Danish-speaking Japanese who has visited Denmark or have some kind of relationship to Denmark.

Application and Recruitment Process:

A dedicated event agency will handle the recruitment on behalf of VisitDenmark. The event agency will host interviews with you and the other applicants, and elect volunteers based on the described qualifications. The recruitment process is expected to start during the fall of 2019. The interview will be conducted in both English and Japanese to ensure sufficient language skills.
