About The Event
Denmark, a country with more than half of its electricity demand covered by variable renewable energy, aiming towards the goal of a 100% renewable power system, used to depend almost entirely on imported fossil fuels for its energy, just like Japan. A major shift toward renewables development and energy savings was made after the first oil crisis in the 1970s. The country has since made efforts to establish flexible solutions for a large deployment of variable renewables through many methods, including the development of grid operation technologies and electricity markets, as well as sector coupling, including heat and transport.
Director General Kristoffer Böttzauw and his expert colleagues from the Danish Energy Agency will be visiting Japan to attend the seminar. We hope all the participants from Japan and Denmark can make the best use of this opportunity to mutually share and gain insights to overcome challenges and find solutions for integrating variable renewable energy into the electricity market.
