About The Event

Once a year the European chambers in Tokyo set their own calendars aside and host a single evening together. That evening is the European Cocktail, and the 2026 edition takes place on Monday 19 October in the Grand Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, a room of roughly 550 square metres wrapped in a 360-degree projection wall.

Fourteen chambers of commerce stand behind this year's edition, together with the European Business Council in Japan. For DCCJ members it is the shortest route there is into the wider European business community in Tokyo — executives and professionals from more than a dozen national business communities, and their Japanese counterparts, in one room on one night.

The format is kept deliberately light. Doors open at 18:30, drinks are free-flow and a buffet is served through the evening. Opening remarks are short, a kanpai with representatives from every participating chamber follows at 19:05, and a lucky draw at 20:00 stirs the room before the close at 21:00. The rest of the evening belongs to the guests.

What makes the European Cocktail worth the trip is arithmetic as much as atmosphere. At a single-chamber event you meet one country's business community; here you meet fourteen, without a panel, a keynote or a seating plan in sight. Conversations start over a glass rather than over an agenda, which is usually the better beginning.

Registration is handled separately by each participating Chamber, and DCCJ holds a limited allocation of places. Once ours is filled we will keep a waiting list, so booking early is the safest approach.

And do bring plenty of business cards.
