Dear readers of DCCJ
Recent success with costumers and client interaction has convinced me to make a career move to Tokyo. Though currently I mainly have experience with teaching and some sales I am aiming for an opportunity to provide solutions for the most pressing problems in a different field than teaching.
I have been an essential part - at my current company - in the process of signing new companies. By interacting with major companies in Japan (Randstad and DuPoint) and doing one-on-one client interaction I understand the market well enough to be able to provide apt solutions to clients.
Another part of my job is recruiting individual students. Besides teaching I also run the day-to-day business of one of our schools branches. This means that I take part of the recruitment process. I stand behind a 10% increase of new customers which has lead to a new branch being opened next month.

The new cafe in Kyobashi is a tribute to a new environment combined with innovative color design. We honor the old and the new masters of danishfurniture and lamps. You have your choice of seating - whether you would like low lounge seating or higher dining table seating - in chairs or in
our padded benches with beautiful danish textiles. We also have a counter facing the beautiful terrace - where you can see the varied trees and plants.
In keeping up with our tradition in The Royal Cafe we continue on our development of new danish cuisine - and feature our culinary concept which we
call " SCANWICH " - which is taking the typical danish "open face sandwich" and mixing it with the classic sandwich - all with traditonal flavors and produce
originating in Scandinavia - and as an added extra - you also have your choice of your favourite bread.
Also as something new to our cafe in Kyobashi, we are now ellaborating over another danish desert called "AEBLESKIVER" - which we have chosen
to call " Ball Pancakes " - pancakes which are round as a ball and for topping we have chosen wonderful sauces and fresh fruit. A danish tradition which
has excisted for more than 600 years and originally was served with a small slice of apple in the middle - that is why we in Denmark call it "APPLE SLICES".
We also feature a selection of beers and wine - as well as healthy smoothies and of course our now - almost world famous coffee " Ruds Double Roast "-
the only coffee that is double roasted and which brings out the sweet chocolate taste in our beans - so please have a taste and enjoy it any way you like it.
To make your visit to our cafe more personal we have displayed many photo frames, depicting our history our friends and family and including all the humor and
happiness we have become known for. On the walls at the end of the room we have painted murals from danish cities also with a touch of naive colorfullness using japanese brush and inc technique.

Tak for sidst, det var rigtig hyggeligt.

For two nights only, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy, the renowned restaurant Nobu Tokyo will be serving some of the best that Nordic and Japanese food can offer.
For this special event, Niels-Frederik Walther (Executive Chef at the Residence of the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo) and Kazuhiro Yokoyama (Executive Chef, Nobu Tokyo) have created a 7-course dinner menu influenced by the traditions and produce of both the Japanese and the New Nordic kitchen.
Niels-Frederik Walther, Executive Chef at the Residence of the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo, comments:
“There is huge interest in New Nordic Food in Japan at the moment, and Nobu was excited when I presented them with the idea for a Nordic/Japanese collaboration dinner. Together with chef Yokohama I have tried to incorporate Nordic ingredients and flavours, as for example herring, but served as sashimi, something you would normally never experience in Japan”
The dinner is mostly based on local Japanese ingredients but with a strong presence of produce that is not normally associated with Japanese cuisine, such as potatoes, rhubarb, apple, and dill to give the menu an overall taste of the Nordic Region.

Dear DCCJ Member,
I am a 23 year old MSc International Economic Consulting Student from Aarhus, Denmark, looking for an internship in Japan for my 3rd semester. I am flexible regarding starting time, but would prefer mid-august, and a duration of 4-6 months.
About me:
I grew up in the southern part of Denmark and attended a German private school, as I am half German on my father’s side, and as a result I speak Danish, German and English on a native level. Business and economics have always fascinated me, and I decided to move to Aarhus to study a general economics Bachelor degree. I spent my 5th semester in Hong Kong, which gave me a taste of travelling and also brought me to Japan, and I returned to next summer to spend a longer time there. This only made me want to stay even longer, and I have decided to go to Japan for an internship now that I am studying my Master degree.
My work experience is versatile, ranging from customer service in Danske Bank to Procurement in Aarhus Municipality. Additionally I have started my own company, an import agency focusing on high quality products from Asia. This has brought me a range of skills of which most important is the ability to quickly adapt and put practical knowledge into use. Additionally I am practiced in the use of the Office platform, Visual Basic, various econometrics programs like STATA and SPSS, and SAS.

My name is Christian Thygesen Søndergaard. I am 24 years old and at the moment I study my Master in International Business at Aarhus University. In the summer of 2012 I finished my bachelor in Economics and Sustainability at Aarhus University. Through both my bachelor and current Master my wish for an international internship has been strengthen. I have always had a strong interest in the international business environment and especially an interest in working with the different cultures, which sets the boundaries of the international market. Due to this rooted interest I chose to go to Bangladesh in 2008 where I worked for 1 year for a Danish textile manufacturer. The stay challenged me a lot both professionally and personally and since the stay I have wanted to expand my knowledge of the international market – which is one of the prime reasons for this internship application. I see an international internship as a very rewarding part of my personal- and professional development just like I see it as a natural part of my Master in International Business.
Practicalities:
Start: August/September 2013
Duration: 6-12 month (preferable12 month)
Country: Japan
Salary: None
Housing and transport: I will handle all the finances of the internship including costs
associated with housing and transport. I would of course
appreciate assistance in finding housing possibilities but
otherwise I will solve that as well.

As part of my top-up Bachelor education in Sustainable Purchasing I am looking for a company where I can spend 2 months working in a CSR department.
During my education as a purchaser I have gained a broad knowledge within the business area, and I have been very much interested in the upstream activies. I have learned a lot about being a problemsolver by monitoring key issues and creating scenarios to solve them.
During my internship I wish to be a part of a CSR team, monitoring, developing and implementing CSR approaches.
The Internship is unpaid and starts on july 3 2013 for a minimum of 10 weeks.

On December 22nd, 2011, Managing Director of Saxo Bank Japan and DCCJ Director, Wataru Kojima, visited the Mayor of Higashi Matsushima.

On behalf of DCCJ, Mr. Kojma handed over a letter from DCCJ Chairman and the donation of 8 million yen for a Children's Fund for the children of Higashi Matsushima. The fund was raised during last year's Danish Art & Design for Japan.

YOKOSO - SAYONARA is a section for our long time friends/members departing Japan and moving on to other endeavor & also a section for new members coming to Japan or moving to a new position. This Spring the below members will be departing us.
ECCO – Jens A. Mikkelsen
After 6 years in Japan, Jens left Japan to take up position as Global Business Development Manager in ECCO retail division in ECCO Headquarters in Denmark.
ECCO Japan Co. Ltd. was established January 1st 2011 as a daughter company responsible for wholesale and retail activities in Japan.
In charge for Japan is President Mr. Kenji Takii who has been with ECCO since February 2009, where he was President for the previous ECCO Retail Japan Co. Ltd.
NOVO NORDISK – Lisbeth & Wisti Seerup
With 10 years in Japan, Lisbeth and Wisti will move on to the USA. Lisbeth will take new position at Novo Nordisk in USA.
Lisbeth - newly honored for her 20 years in Novo and Wisti - known for his Karate and photography, were both among the most loyal and frequent to join the various DCCJ events.

COLOPLAST – Vagn & Kia Heiberg
Due to Coloplast changed its regional head office from Japan to China, Vagn Heiberg will continue his position as Senior Vice President Asia in Beijing.
Vagn has been in the DCCJ board of Directors for more than 12 years as well as Chairman of the board in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Vagn and Kia are one of the longest staying Danes, with 21 years in Japan.
Mr. Lars Kai was appointed Country Manager Japan as of October 2010.
DCCJ will miss you all and wishes our leaving members the very best in their
new endeavor.
